Southern Districts Cricket Club (SDCC) has been based in Beckenham Park, from its beginnings as Beckenham Cricket Club since 1926. SDCC was formed with the merger of Beckenham and Waltham Cricket Clubs in 1979.

SDCC has initiated a Centenary Project that will recognise 100 years of Beckenham Cricket Club in 2026. The Club is seeking to stir memories of the club and former players by digitising our records, visiting rest-homes and trying to connect the club to local people, families and businesses. We have nearly a hundred photographs that have been digitised and protected for prosperity. Adding stories to these images will only serve to enrich the collective history of the club and community. These can be seen here.

SDCC believe the model of a sport club not exclusively a Cricket club, that ongoing support and engagement with families will build a club and stronger and more engaged community. To this end we now have a collaborative partnership running South East Ōtautahi, a female pathway club, alongside our Winter codes Southern Districts Football Club, and Southern Districts Indoor Cricket.

Historically we were a part of the Suburban association, but we are now governed by Christchurch Metro Cricket Association and the Christchurch Junior Cricket Association.
