Welcome to a Summer of Cricket with Southern Districts
Kia ora and thank you for taking the time to explore what Southern Districts has to offer.
We’re thrilled you’re considering joining us for a season of cricket, and we’re proud to be part of South East Ōtautahi – a collaborative effort between local clubs working together to grow the game, especially for our wāhine.
By joining us, you’re not just signing up for cricket – you’re helping us create more opportunities and stronger pathways for players in our community.
We are excited to share that this season marks a huge milestone for us – 100 years of providing cricket to our local community. From our beginnings as Beckenham Cricket, cricket has been played right here from our Beckenham Park pavilion since 1926!
We’re a small, family-focused club where we know everyone’s name, and we’d love to welcome new players to be part of our next 100 years!
We offer cricket for all ages and abilities, from our seniors right through to our youngest players. In the Senior section, we are making our return to Division Two men’s, and are looking forward to welcoming a number of new players in this grade.
We’re also proud to support female-only teams playing under the South East Ōtautahi club – a collaborative pathway for females on the East side of Christchurch. This season, we anticipate fielding teams in Divisions 3 and 2. We also field a Women’s T20 side in collaboration with NorthWest Women’s Cricket.
Our Junior section is strong and growing, with teams from Year 1 to Year 8 in the CJCA competition.
Alongside Saturday cricket, we run Friday Night Smash Play – a fun, fast-paced format perfect for kids wanting an active start to the weekend.
